This website has been created for LGBTIQA+ communities to access safe and informed care for pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Developed by Jess alongside a community of midwives and health professionals, this site is intended to bridge the gap for information on:

About Jess

The Queer and Trans Birth Project was created by Jess (they/she) - midwife, childbirth educator and queer co-parent of a couple of lovely kids.

I am committed to trauma-informed, accessible public healthcare and to promoting perinatal care that is holistic and culturally competent. I currently work clinically and as a research midwife.

SERVICES:

  • BirthSpace workshop facilitator

  • Private in-home childbirth/parenting education.

Queer and Trans Birth classes

In these classes you will have the opportunity to connect and build community with other LGBTQIA+ families.

Classes are tailored to your needs but can include:

  • The opportunity to debrief the conception process in a safe space

  • An overview of the system and how to navigate it

  • Informed decision making

  • The mechanics and dynamics of birth – physiology, psychology and the hormonal interplay

  • Pain coping and pain relief options

  • Options for chest and breastfeedin

  • Life with a newborn

  • Tips on surviving the early months with your identity and relationship/s intact

These classes are run in-person in Brunswick.
